March 10, 2014

I have a confession to make...I've been horrible about taking pictures lately. Don't get me wrong, my camera comes out during special times but when it comes to the day to day stuff, I tend to rely on my iPhone for pictures. So, I've decided to challenge myself. I'm going to take ATLEAST one picture of each child per day with my real camera. Pictures of them just being them, doing ordinary stuff. And I've decided to blog about it (not daily, probably weekly) and include fun little stories about what's going on in the pictures because I want to remember all the little day to day stuff!

My goal is to do this "picture a day challenge" until the end of the year. I started today and definitely surpassed my one picture of each child requirement...I think I took 144 pictures today! So, here's just a few!

I can't believe how independent Maxwell is becoming. He's up and ready for school (1st grade...how do they grow so fast???)

Maxwell loves to help wake Makayla up in the mornings.

Makayla loves her sleep, but she's happy to see Maxwell and mommy in the morning when she wakes up! (Daddy is already at work)

Makayla loves to read and this is her favorite book, Shoe La La. She insists on reading it daily...and has since she was about 1!

This face makes us giggle atleast 3 times a day! This is how she looks when she prays! She gets super serious. Sometimes it's a quick "Thank you for this food, Amen" Today's lunch prayer, "Dear Heavenly Father, we love you and thank you and hope daddy has a safe trip to Springfield and we hope we have a good swim lesson. Amen"

As previously mentioned, Makayla loves her sleep! She still takes a daily nap (usually 2 - 2.5 hours!). She can't sleep without her pink blanket though!

Maxwell has been an extra good helper around the house, so I took him to Sonic for a milkshake after school today! :)

The weather was beautiful today, so we had to spend some time outside!

Push-ups and bubble blowing! :)

I love how well these two get along. Sure, they have their moments where they don't, but for the most part they do. They play great together and seeing that just melts my heart! :)

Makayla is 2 Months Old!

Makayla was officially 2 months old on Monday (Valentines Day)! Can't believe how fast time to going. She gave us the best Valentines present...she slept thru the night! She slept a little over 10 hours and then I had to wake her up to get her ready for her 2 month doctor's appointment! We were definitely hoping this was the beginning of a good trend, but we were trying not to get too excited. How likely was it to happen again the next night? Well, she did it again!!! She slept 10.5 hours last night!!!!

Her 2 month check-up went very well. She is now 11 lbs. 10 oz. and 23 inches long! The doctor said she looked great!

Our Little Jumper

Maxwell is your typical 3-year-old, always FULL of energy! One of his favorite things to do is jump! After several weeks (if not months) of him jumping on the couch we decided it was time to find something else for him to jump on (for the sake of our couch!). We also wanted to make sure he was safe when he was jumping, so when we saw this trampoline at Toys R Us, we knew it was just the thing!

Visiting Daddy At Work

Wednesday January 5th was a milestone in our house. It was the first time I took both kids out all by myself! :) We drove to Marshalltown to see Matt at work and have lunch with him. Thankfully I had Matt to help me once we got there, so it wasn't too hard for our first trip. I think it will be awhile before I take them on a complete outing all alone! :)

Introducing...Makayla Jane

We welcomed our second child, Makayla Jane, on December 14, 2010 at 6:40pm. She was 6 lbs. 14 oz. and 20 in. long. We have been keeping busy with her ever since! She's a really good baby, and usually only gets up 2 times in the middle of the night. At her 2-week check-up she was already up to 7 lbs. 1 oz. and 21 in. long. She's growing so fast! It's hard to believe she's already 4-weeks old!

Max is really enjoying being a big brother. He loves to give Makayla kisses and show her all his cool toys.

Matt took 3 weeks off work following Makayla's birth. It was very nice to have him around and it gave him a little chance to rest. He normally works 50-60 hours a week, so he definitely needed and deserved some time away!

Welcome

Welcome to our blog!

We decided that a blog would be a great way to keep family and friends updated on what's going on with our family, as well as a place to share pictures with everyone! Our goal is to post something every week, so check back often for updates!
